About
Total Confusion, or TotalCon, is a game convention in Massachusetts that bills itself as New England's largest. Started in 1987 in Auburn, it has moved through several venues and since 2017 has been held at the Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlborough, always over four days, Thursday to Sunday, on the weekend after Presidents' Day in February. It covers role-playing, board and miniature games.
For train gamers, TotalCon hosts Puffing Billy, a dedicated set of train game events with its own coordinator. Players score in several categories, such as 18xx, Ticket to Ride, Empire Builder and shorter train games, and their best results count towards an overall Puffing Billy champion; in recent years 18xx has been split into short and long events.
