About
BoardGameGeek (BGG) is the largest online database and community for board games, launched in 2000 by Scott Alden and Derk Solko. Besides its game pages, forums and rankings, BGG organises in-person events, the best known being BGG.CON, held in the Dallas area every November since 2005, when the first edition gathered about 250 people.
BGG.CON now runs for five days at the Hyatt Regency Dallas and centres on open gaming, a very large lending library, a hot games area, publisher demos and tournaments. 18xx players meet there to arrange long games, and attendee-scheduled 18xx sessions have their own category on the convention's event system, separate from the quiet games.
